We’ve gathered some insights that might shed some light on what you can typically expect to be included in your cruise fare and the kinds of onboard experiences that usually come with an extra cost. We hope this helps you feel more confident and prepared for your upcoming adventure! 

Paid Activities

While Carnival Cruise Line offers a wide array of complimentary activities, there are several onboard experiences and services that come with an additional cost across their fleet of ships:

Casino:

  • Casino Games: This includes slot machines, blackjack, roulette, craps, poker, and other table games. Participation requires wagering money.
  • Casino Tournaments: Entry fees are typically charged for participating in poker, blackjack, or slot tournaments.

Excursions:

  • Shore Excursions: These are off-ship activities and tours in the ports of call. Costs vary significantly depending on the type and duration of the excursion.

Shopping:

  • Onboard Shops: Any purchases made in the onboard retail shops, including souvenirs, clothing, jewelry, toiletries, and snacks, will incur a charge.

Bingo:

  • Bingo Games: Purchasing bingo cards to participate in the various bingo sessions held onboard. Prices vary depending on the number of cards and the potential jackpot.

Gratuities:

  • Crew Gratuities: Carnival automatically charges a daily gratuity to your onboard account to recognize the service provided by the crew in dining, housekeeping, and other areas. 
  • Bar Service Gratuities: An automatic gratuity is usually added to each beverage purchase made onboard.
  • Spa Service Gratuities: Gratuities are often added to the cost of spa treatments and salon services.

Drinks (Beyond Complimentary Options):

  • Alcoholic Beverages: This includes beer, wine, cocktails, and spirits purchased at any of the onboard bars and lounges.
  • Specialty Coffees and Teas: Drinks from the onboard coffee shops beyond the complimentary options in the buffet and dining room (e.g., lattes, cappuccinos).

  • The Punchliner Comedy Club: Stand-up comedy shows featuring professional comedians. Family-friendly shows are usually offered earlier in the evening, with adult-only shows later.
  • Carnival LIVE Spotlight Series: On select cruises, you can enjoy concerts by well-known artists from shows like American Idol, The Voice, and more.
  • Family Feud Live: Available on cruises of 7 days or longer, guests can participate in or watch a live version of the popular game show.
  • Piano Bar: Almost all Carnival ships feature a piano bar where a live pianist entertains guests with sing-alongs and takes requests. It’s a lively atmosphere that lasts into the late hours.

Theater:

  • The main theater venues host the Playlist Productions shows and comedy acts mentioned above, all included in your fare.

Movies:

  • Dive-In Movies at the Seaside Theater: Most Carnival ships have a large outdoor LED screen near the main pool where you can watch movies, concerts, and sometimes live sporting events from the comfort of a lounge chair or even the pool. 

Sports:
